I logged into vista today on my laptop, it booted up fine and the login screen was also fine. But instead of the Desktop screen there was just my documents folder and it was open. I am able to access every thing on my laptop apart from the start menu because there is no task bar and the windows button on the key board doesn’t work. Ctrl Alt Del is also working file. I was sure that my laptop is free from virus and spyware. So i started digging in to my OS to find out the reason why all of a sudden without even installing a software my laptop went blank.

HOW TO FIX / RESOLVE THIS?

NOTE:- You are going to edit the windows registry so should be very careful.Do this at your own risk.I strongly recommend you to take a back up of your registry if you are not that handy with windows.

Go to start and type in regedit into your search box. When your registry editor opens, navigate to …..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Click on Winlogon and look in the right pane for “shell“. Under the data column, it should have
explorer.exe listed. If it is anything other than that, double click on shell and change the Value
data to explorer.exe

I was surprised to see on my SHELL it was having value rundll32.exe augy.vko fxhfnku along with explorer.exe

I was bit worried to see augy.vko in my shell so i ran my antivirus and

Unfortunately i found that augy.vko (Backdoor.Bot) is a trojan [Virus] , it was found in my

C:\Windows\System32 path, i deleted it forcefully.

At last my LapTop also became one of the virus victim. The above method will definitely fix your issue coz mine got fixed 🙂 , if you are not able to fix the blank screen issue after doing the above steps please try a system restore.
